Moin-Ul-Haq Stadium Patna to be Upgraded into International Cricket Ground
Moin-Ul-Haq Stadium is located in Rajendra Nagar Patna The multi-purpose stadium has hosted three One Day International (ODI) matches including 1 from the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
Moin-Ul-Haq Stadium has a capacity of 25,000 people. It is used for cricket and association football. It is the home ground of the Bihar Ranji Team. The government has proposed the stadium development expanding its seating capacity. It is maintained by the Cricket Association of Bihar.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium at Rajendra Nagar Patna would be upgraded and developed as per the specifications provided by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). so it can host national and international Cricket matches.
Bihar would have two stadiums for hosting international matches as another stadium Nalanda International Cricket Stadium (NICS) will come up at Rajgir.
According to Sukhda Pandey (Minister for Art, Culture and youth affairs) the modernization of Moin-ul-Haq Stadium Rajendra Nagar, Patna, would begin in the next financial year.
And more facilities would be provided to Patiputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh, Patna, Also annual kabaddi and kho-kho tournaments will be held at the PSC.
The Bihar government has already acquired over 90 acres of land at Rajgir for Nalanda International Cricket Stadium and the work on Stadium has already started. The project is targeted to be completed by 2021-22 with an investment of over Rs 600 crore.
The new Moin-ul-Haque Stadium and Nalanda International Cricket Stadium will put Bihar on the country’s cricketing map. In sync with the same, for Better connectivity, 70km long Noorsarai-Nalanda road has also started, which would make it possible to access Rajgir in 70 minutes from Patna, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said.
