Dr. Kalam Science City Patna Building Work to Start in Four Months
Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna may soon become a reality as its architectural design is in the final stage. The state cabinet on this Tuesday allotted Rs 397 crore for this ambitious Science City project.
This Science City Project, which will come up near Moin-ul-Haq stadium in Rajendra Nagar, is expected to be inaugurated in June 2019.

All this is mainly when it comes to communicating, experiencing and discussing the key issues which affect the future of school groups, residents and tourists.
Sources said that for the proposed Science City Project in Patna, the state Science and technology (S&T) department has roped in three distinct companies, including Montreal-based G S M Project for exhibit designs, Bengaluru-based Flying Elephant for architectural design of the building and UK-based Gleeds for project management.
As per statement by the S&T department director Atul Sinha, a meeting will be held from May 17 to May 19 for enabling members of expert committee to discuss the details of the respective building.
Apart from Sinha, other members of the exhibit committee include retired scientist Padma Shri Manas Bihari Verma, Kolkata Science City’s director general A D Choudhury, National Council of Science Museums’ former director general I K Mukherjee, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research’s former director Vijay Singh, University of Calcutta’s Dr Tushar Kanti Ghosh and IIT-Kanpur’s Vinod Tare.
Sinha further said:
‘We will also like to study the science city centres in the US, Canada and the Netherlands and will adopt their best features’.
Sinha added:
‘The design for the main building is in the final stage now and the tender for it will be floated by the next month for sure. And with construction work, assumptions are high that it will begin in four months from now.’
The master plan for this Science Project has been already prepared by Canada-based Lord Cultural Resources. It’s whole target built-up area is 30,000 sqm, spread over 20.48 acres between Premchand Rangshala and Moin-ul-Haq Stadium. The estimated cost of this Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science Project in Patna is Rs 397 crore.
According to the prepared master plan, the exhibits in the proposed science city would be comprised of six themes that is a scientist, sustainability, basic science, mind, space and astronomy.
Besides, a kitchen will also be created to give lessons to children on calories, nutritional values of food, hygiene etc. In addition to all this, a learning suite will be there for student’s recreational activities such as making science models, robots and several other projects.
The Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City Project in Patna was conceptualized in 2012, as discussed above with the primary objective of promoting and popularizing science among the people. One another motto behind this was also demonstrating and preserving the illustrious history of scientific development in Bihar and Indian subcontinent via visual interactive media.
