Tough battle in Patna Sahib : Lok Sabha Election 2019
Ravi Shankar Prasad known as a lawyer politician and Shatrughan Sinha is a famous film star
The Patna Sahib constituency, will be one of the most closely watched seat in Bihar as one has strong connections with the party leaders, the other a vocal critic of it. Last year’s winner Shatrughan Sinha has turned against his party BJP.
In 2014 Shatrughan Sinha defeated Congress’s Kunal singh by more than 2 lakh votes. This time the BJP has fielded Ravi Shankar Prasad from the constituency and famous film star Shatrughan Sinha has vowed he will also fight from the Patna Sahib seat.
Shatrughan Sinha and Ravi Shankar Prasad Both belong to the Kayastha community that had rallied behind the BJP in the Lok Sabha election 2014. And this is precisely why analysts say the going may be tough for Prasad, as votes not only Kayasthas, but other upper castes too, may split this time.
The opinion poll had earlier said that the BJP may be able to assemble more upper caste votes this time in comparison to the 2014 Lok Sabha Election. In 2014 Election, 48{dfad1845c18f3d3d13481ef1637ff593fa537ce96fafe7b10d370006d8ed1e9e} upper caste vote gone in favour of BJP, RJD 23{dfad1845c18f3d3d13481ef1637ff593fa537ce96fafe7b10d370006d8ed1e9e} and JDU 6{dfad1845c18f3d3d13481ef1637ff593fa537ce96fafe7b10d370006d8ed1e9e}. The survey says that the JDU effect will work this time, and the NDA candidate may bring around 63{dfad1845c18f3d3d13481ef1637ff593fa537ce96fafe7b10d370006d8ed1e9e} upper caste votes.
