Bihar Govt. directed Private Schools Don’t take fees for March-April
Bihar state education department directed all private schools not to take any school fee, including transportation charges, for the entire lockdown period of March and April.
Ranjit Kumar Singh (Director of primary education) said, “Schools, which are providing online classes, can take tuition fees only. But other charges for March and April should be waived off.” He also said private schools can’t force parents to pay the fee for other study material. Schools should give a proper time period for fee payment without charging any fine,”
the department received complaints regarding the schools forcing parents to pay fees for the new academic session. After that the department issued the instructions and warned private schools of strict action for demanding fees for the lockdown period. But the schools conducting online classes have been allowed to take tuition fee only.
The order came as a relief for parents, who has school-going kids and those were not sure about paying the fees being demanded by the private schools.
Kunal Sharma, who has two school-going kids, said, “It is a big relief for parents like me. I have not paid fees regardless of receiving several notices from the school. The school is asking for tuition fees and other charges also”
Rashmi Kumari, whose twin daughters is in Class 5th said their income has reduced sharply due to the lockdown ‘’My husband is a business person and there is minimal income due to Coronavirus in Bihar government has taken very good decision by imposing restrictions on school fees” she said.
According to Mary Alphonsa (Principal of Don Bosco Academy) said the school administration would upload a notice to its official website for fees. “According to order of state government, School will take only tuition fees for March and April. We will adjust the maintenance fees once the school reopen’’
