Bihar CM, Governor Pay Tribute to Sardar Patel, Indira Gandhi

Patna: At a state function organized by the Bihar government, the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Governor Lalji Tandon paid floral tribute to India’s ‘Ironman’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Patna on Wednesday, to mark his 143rd birth anniversary and recalled his effort in persuading over 550 princely states to join India.

The CM Nitish Kumar and Governor Tandon also paid floral tribute to India’s former Prime Minister – Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary.

Around 9.30 am, the Governor and the Chief Minister arrived at the Patel Chowk near Chitkohra Pul and placed wreaths at the statue of the freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Bihar Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav, Panchayati Raj Minister Kapildeo Kamat, and a number of Janata Dal – U and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were also present on the occasion to pay tribute to this great leader of India.

On this tribute-paying ceremony a ‘bhajan session’ was also organized by the Information and Public Relations department of the state government, where politicians talked about the life of the Ironman and his valuable contributions in the fight for freedom. A number of local artist presented religious songs, hymns, and bhajans at the event.

The Central government witnesses October 31 as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) on the birth anniversary of India’s ‘Ironman’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary function was also organized in other parts of the state where people remembered his contributions to the country.
