“Mission Gange” Team reaches Patna in its Final Leg of Rafting Expedition
Mission Gange team in Buxar joined 500 more volunteers of Ganga Task Force and Ganga Vichar Manch. There they collected 3.5 tonnes of waste and engaged with more than 3,800+ students from several schools. The team at Buxar interacted with around 1000 community people.
‘Mission Gange’ team at Buxar organized a Prabhat Pheri with 250 participants for spreading cleanliness message. Here a Ganga aarti was also held at the Ramrekha ghat.
Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) Chief Ms. Bachendari Pal-led ‘Mission Gange’ team after this, arrived Patna on 28th Of Oct, 2018. This was the final stopover of the month-long rafting expedition, aiming at raising awareness about the waste management and Ganga cleanliness.
TSAF team of 40 members finally reached Patna after completing cleanliness drive in Buxar.
Buxar was the seventh stopover for team ‘Mission Gange’, after covering six cities since its commencement on October 5, 2018. Six cities covered by ‘Mission Gange’ under its mission includes Haridwar, Bijnor, Kanpur, Farrukhabad, Prayagraj, Kanpur and Varanasi.
Coming back to Patna,
‘Mission Gange’ team stayed in Patna from October 28 to October 30. They their conducted cleanliness drive at several ghats and visited schools. The team besides, also participated in a Swachta rally being organized at Gandhi Maidan.
‘Mission Gange’ is actually a joint initiative of Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) and National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), aiming at raising awareness about Ganga cleanliness and waste management via a month-long rafting expedition.
The expedition covered 1,500 kms of the Ganga, encompassing eight major towns including Haridwar, Bijnor, Farrukhabad, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Buxar and finally Patna on October 30, 2018.
TSAF is a diverse and industrious team of 40 individuals (20 women and 20 men) including eight mountaineers (Bachendri Pal, Premlata Agarwal, Hemant Gupta, R S Pal, Chetna Sahoo, Binita Soren, Poonam Rana, Swarnlata Dalai), who submitted Mt. Everest, and 23 Tata Steel employees.
TSAF expedition team besides from this, also include professionals from backgrounds as diverse as engineering, environmentalists, science etc. These people are basically there to meet all the challenges which might get encountered during the expedition.
The TSAF Mission Gange Team during its stay in several cities along with course, carry out cleanliness drives at Ghats and surrounding areas. They additionally, also visited several schools and institutions for creating awareness on waste management, climate change and pollution in Ganga.
