Health minister Bihar: There is no shortage of PPE kits in State
The health department of Bihar on Saturday claimed that PPE (personal protective equipment) kits were being acquired in sufficient quantity for frontline medical staffs fighting Covid-19 in Bihar.
“Mangal Panday (Health minister of Bihar) said 4,01,295 ‘3-ply’, mask 22,957 PPE kits, 23,409 bottles of sanitizer (500ml each) and 10,750 RNA extraction kites are currently available in Bihar.
Health department provides these protective gears to government hospital as per their requirement and request. I informed Union health minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan about the latest status of Covid-19 patients in the state in a videoconferencing and urged him to provide 500 ventilators to Bihar, Panday said adding that the Union minister has assured the state of providing PPE kits and other protective gears in sufficient amount.
The state government has already provided gloves, mask, eye gears and surgical gowns, to health workers to protect them from the Coronavirus. hand sanitizer, Dettol solution, 3-ply and N-95 masks, have been aslo provided to the government hospitals in Bihar.
Superintendent of Nalanda Medical College and Hospital Patna Dr Nirmal kumar Sinha, said the hospital has more than 500 N-95 masks and 2,000 PPE kits.
“The supply of Dettol solution and hand sanitizer has also upgraded. some organization and individuals are also donating these items to the hospital administration,” he said, the number of bed’s in isolation wards has been increased to 448 following rise in Covid-19 positive cases in Bihar.
Dr. Raj Kishore Choudhary (civil surgeon Patna) said Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited has arranged personal protective equipment kits and other protective gears for health workers in bulk from the market and Centre. there is no shortage of protective gears now it is easily available in the market, he added.
